Together with Swiss world champion pilot Daniel Aeberli, FMS developed the world’s first high-performance foam glider – the FMS ASW-17.
The new ASW-17 from FMS, with a wingspan of 2.50 meters, impresses with numerous innovative new solutions, enormous stability during the wildest aerobatic maneuvers and high G-forces, and a sophisticated aluminum/carbon fiber/foam construction.
The wing connectors, made of CNC-machined aluminum, are simply screwed into the fuselage. The wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers are designed with a “quick-release” system, whereby the wings and tail units simply “snap” into place, allowing the model to be fully assembled or disassembled in just a few seconds.
A 750KV brushless motor, combined with a 40A flight controller and an efficient 13.5×6″ folding propeller, provides powerful propulsion. Both the motor and the 6 MG servos are pre-installed in the model, meaning assembly is reduced to simply plugging together the fuselage, tailplanes, and wings, and installing the battery and receiver.
